Aside: Buying real estate in a growing city is a great investment; I recommend it to anyone who can afford it. If well-chosen, the property should appreciate by a few % a year. (In Denver, prices have gone up 7% a year for a decade!) While you have it, you can either live in it (and thus avoid paying rent) or rent it out to someone else, both of which are huge benefits.
